The Steamboat Cookhouse + Pub in Skegness

Whether you’re sitting down for a big family lunch or you’re after a quiet dinner alone by the seaside, here at the Steamboat we’re the best restaurant in Skeggy for delicious food at great-value prices. Tuck into some tasty breakfast, lunches and desserts right next to the seafront and after you’re done look forward to a grand day out along Skegness Pier. From door to table, you’re sailing towards something special when you step aboard the Steamboat.

Our team
We’re a relatively new addition to the Skegness seafront – we only opened in 2019, but we love Skegness and we’re determined to do our bit for the community. On our first day our team volunteered their time to clean up Skegness beach and pick up litter, we care about ensuring Skeggy stays a favourite for beach breaks, the same as it’s been for hundreds of years.

Our location
Our restaurant is a five-minute walk from some of the best Skegness has to offer. We’re only a short walk from Skegness Pier, Natureland Seal Sanctuary and the Pleasure Beach Fairground. It goes without saying but we’re only moments from the beach too, breathe in refreshing sea air when you eat with us in an outdoor dining area.

Why we love Skegness
Even as far back as 1770 it was thought fresh sea air could improve your health and mental wellbeing, which was how Skeggy came to be a favourite for holidays in the East of England to get away from the stresses of life. Originally thought to have been named after its viking founder, Skeggi, Skegness really came into its own as a holiday destination in 1936 and has drawn families, couples and people looking for a classic British seaside break from across the country in that time.

Skegness Pier was built in 1881 and still stands as one of the most striking and beautiful places to visit. The pier is surrounded by the golden sands of Skegness Beach and Skegness Pleasurebeach, with rides, fun and arcades galore. You’ll also find other family favourites like Natureland Seal Sanctuary on the seafront, a real gem of a place where you can get closer to cute seals and learn more about how they live.

There’s plenty to see in town too, whether that’s dazzling fish at Skegness Aquarium, a spot of crazy golf at Seacroft Golf Club or just a wander through Tower Gardens to see Skegness Clocktower. Skeggy is something special, and we’re so proud that we at the Steamboat are a part of a place that has brought joy to so many people.

We do a brilliant Sunday roast with all the trimmings that won’t break the bank. Plus we have a great selection of drinks to wash it down.

You can’t beat the Premier Inn Breakfast that we serve at The Steamboat, an unlimited selection of the best of an English breakfast. That’s bacon, eggs cooked just how you like them, hash browns, black pudding, toast and plenty more with free tea and coffee to wash it all down.

Afraid not, but with the beach and Skegness Pier only a few minutes’ walk away there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained after you’re done eating.

Definitely, we have a really friendly team who care about making everyone feel welcome. Cookhouse + Pub is a great space for everyone, including families. We’ve changed the space of our restaurant so families won’t disturb other guests, no matter how noisy dinner time might get.
